Freeing the Butterfly Conference: Language Access for DHH Children
The Freeing the Butterfly Conference will be in person at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, NC. Full session descriptions coming soon!
The conference will be from 3:00 - 9:30 pm on Wednesday, November 6 and from 8:00 am - 5:30 pm on Thursday, November 7 and Friday, November 8, 2024. Click here for a list of recommended nearby hotels.
This event is hosted by Language First in collaboration with the North Carolina Association of the Deaf (NCAD) and the North Carolina American Sign Language Teacher Association (NCASLTA). The target audience for this event is general education and medical providers, including speech-language pathologists, audiologists, doctors, educators, and other professionals who may be new to ASL-English bilingualism.

GETTING THERE
We recommend flying into Wilmington International Airport. We will be offering a shuttle service to and from the airport and the conference; be sure to indicate your interest in the shuttle in your registration form. The conference venue is a 7-minute Uber/Lyft ride from the airport.

Continuing Education:
This event is offered for up to 1.3 ASHA CEUs, introductory level, and up to 1.3 RID CEUs, professional studies. All participants will also receive a certificate of completion. Please note that RID CEUs are an additional $10 charge per course.

Cancellation/Refund Policy:
Full refunds are available up to 21 days prior to the event. No refunds are available after that time. If Language First cancels or moves an event, all participants will be given the options of a.) receiving a full refund; b.) applying the amount paid to another event; c.) transferring their registration to the new date.
